SANCTUM | zyggurat + Tullis Rennie

Join us on Friday 16th January for a night of sound explorations!

Zyggurat is an electronic music project by Pete Grimshaw on modular synthesiser with Sam Wooster on trumpet and Nathan England-Jones on drums. With releases on Clay Pipe Music and Old Technology, the band have received widespread critical acclaim for their skilful and spontaneous modular synth performances, drawing special praise for the sonic interplay between the synth work, extended trumpet techniques and the organic flow of the drums.

Tullis Rennie is an electronic musician, improvising trombonist, composer, and field recordist who "foregrounds the act of listening as an active component in the creation of musical experience” (The Wire Magazine). His latest album Safe Operating Space (Efpi Records) is a hybrid of club music and acoustic free improvisation that results in "boundary-pushing electronica... as if we were listening to an intergalactic visitor’s attempt at appropriating the dancefloor" (theQuietus), in which the musicreflects on themes such as global heating, AI-generated deepfakes, family life, and Kate Bush.
